Welcome To SoCal Code Camp

Next Code Camp November 21st & 22nd at University of Southern California

Code Camp is a place for developers to come and learn from their peers. This community driven event has become an international trend where peer groups of all platforms, programming languages and disciplines band together to bring content to the community.

Who is speaking at Code Camp? YOU are, YOUR PEERS are, and YOUR LOCAL EXPERTS are…all are welcome! This is a community event and one of the main purposes of the event is to have local community members step up and offer some cool presentations! Don’t worry if you have never given a presentation before, we’ll give you some tips if you need help, and this a great opportunity to spread your wings. Of course, we do have some ringers on our speaker list as well…stay tuned…

Code Camp is a completely volunteer driven event and we are asking for your help to make it happen. Are you willing to help volunteer for an hour or so? Tasks consist mostly of helping out at the registration desk checking people in and directing people to where they need to go.

If you are interested in volunteering, just go to the Contact page and choose "Volunteering". You help is greatly appreciated!

San Diego Code Camp GEEK Dinner logistics!!

6/21/2009 10:20:00 PM

This year we’re going to do things a little differently for our GEEK dinner. We’re holding the dinner at Cozymel’s restaurant which is a short 5 minute drive from Code Camp. There will be heavy appetizers and sodas available for free, and we will also have a limited number of drink tickets for those interested in loosening up with a stronger libation….once the tickets are gone, you’re on your own :).

Directions are as follows from Code Camp:
   • Exit from the Code Camp site and take a left on Torrey Pines Road, this turns into La Jolla Village Drive
   • Continue on La Jolla Village Drive until you reach Nobel Drive.
   • Turn right on Nobel, and take an immediate left into the shopping plaza entrance, and another left towards the restaurants
(also on your left, you can’t miss the Cozymel’s sign).

Just like every code camp, our budget can only afford a limited number of people at the dinner, so we’ll be dishing out tickets to the GEEK dinner to the first registrants to Code Camp on Saturday morning. Please do not take a ticket unless you really plan to go to the dinner.

As for what will happen at dinner – mingle, eat, drink and enjoy your peers – that’s what we plan to do!!!! Unfortunately we won’t have a band this time around, it wasn’t in the budget to arrange this, but you can help us for next year by finding out if your company will sponsor code camp and help us with costs to put on this free event! So, if you think this is an option, let us know and have your people talk to our people to plan for next year!!!

All the best, see you soon! Your humble Code Camp organizers...
